I’m for advancing design and architectural knowledge, especially when it comes to the everyday home.

I created the Department of Cozy to share some of my ideas and to help move the tiny house lifestyle forward. I have been interested in prefab, tiny houses, and mobile dwellings since getting my architecture degree in 2006. Since then I have been working in the fields of architecture, modular prefab, and exhibit design.

I’m currently scoping out sites in Pennsylvania for my own tiny house building site.

What makes it cozy.

Affordable

I believe everyone should have access to affordable, modern housing. Smaller is cheaper in the building world and starting small can cost a fraction of what the average American home costs.

Cozy

Coziness is the driver for the layouts. The interiors are designed to make the cabins feel homey right from the moment you move in.

Sustainable

Efficiency, solar orientation, resource-efficient materials, onsite power, water systems, and off-grid capabilities are all baked into the design of these cabins.

Quality Design

These plans aim to provide simple design solutions to basic human needs. Each design also creates a supporting outdoor area to enjoy the surrounding landscape.
